Quality Control Technician – Corporate Office

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine testing and maintenance tasks following standard procedures, operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner, records all data, evaluates results, and responsible for housekeeping of work areas. Expected to develop skills in non-standard testing, or area specific expertise and ownership.
  • May be assigned work in areas of technical service, analysis of new products, raw materials, processes, and test method development.
  • Prepares, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware, solutions, and instruments used in the laboratory.
  • Interacts with all levels of production personnel and management.
  • Motivated, self-starting, able and willing to manage their own shift following training.
  • Willing to work off-shift as needed for training or coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Competency:

  • Must demonstrate ability to operate independently on a shift after training and qualification.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Makes decisions and establishes priorities on procedure-oriented operations based on timing and with guidance from Shift Supervisor.
  • Highly safety conscious.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor and as a member of a team.
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment

 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 1-2 years as Assistant Technician, or
  • Lab familiarity

Education and/or Experience:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school with a focus in a technical discipline; or 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures, proportions, percentages.
  • Ability to apply algebraic concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions while unsupervised.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

  • Windows Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works with, chemicals, electrical equipment, and furnaces operating at high temperatures.  The noise and vibration level in the work environment is usually moderate.
