SIKA® REF – High-Performance Silicon Carbide for Refractory Manufacturing
At Kymera International’s Meta Ceramics division, we supply SIKA® REF silicon carbide grains to leading refractory manufacturers around the globe. Produced under fully controlled conditions, SIKA® REF delivers exceptional consistency in particle size, density, and purity—helping you minimize production variances and maximize the reliability of your finished products.
Our portfolio includes a full range of silicon carbide grades, with SiC contents ranging from below 90% to 98.5% and precisely controlled magnetic iron levels. These materials are trusted in demanding applications including blast furnace linings, kiln furniture, monolithics, crucibles, filters, and high-performance reactor linings.
Helping You Deliver Better Refractories
In the refractory industry, your reputation depends on the performance of your products. Whether you supply blast furnace linings, kiln furniture, or high-temperature monolithics, any failure in service can mean costly downtime and damage to customer trust.
That is why we design SIKA® REF specifically for refractory manufacturing—to help you produce stronger, longer-lasting solutions with predictable, repeatable quality. Producers across Europe, Asia, and the Americas rely on our silicon carbide for its stability, versatility, and proven performance in the field. We supply high-purity raw materials for refractories used in industries such as iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, cement, ceramics, energy, and chemical processing.
Consistency That Keeps Your Process on Track
Unlike many suppliers who rely on externally purchased crude, we control the entire production chain. We source and inspect all raw materials, produce our own crude silicon carbide, and process it into the finished powder, ensuring:
- Stable particle size distribution for predictable mixing and forming
- Consistent bulk density for reliable pressing and shaping
- Tight magnetic iron and purity control to meet exact specifications
This level of stability reduces production variances, lowers rework rates, and prevents costly batch rejections—while safeguarding your reputation for quality.
A Grade for Every Application
Our range covers both cost-efficient and ultra-high-performance grades, giving you the flexibility to meet your market’s needs without compromise.
- REF I, REF II, REF III, REF IV – For standard requirements of temperature resistance and purity
- REF I: 98–97.5% SiC – blast furnaces, torpedo ladles, aluminum reduction cells, crucibles, foamglass, waste to energy plant, chemical reactors
- REF II: 95% SiC – blast furnaces, tap hole clay, runners, crucibles, ceramic filters, cement furnaces
- REF III: 90% SiC – monolithics, tap hole clay, mortars
- REF IV: <90% SiC – monolithics, tap hole clay, mortars
- REF I NI – 98% SiC with low magnetic iron (100–350 ppm) for purity-critical refractories such as kiln furniture, monolithics for blast furnaces, desulfurization nozzles, heat exchangers, boiler linings, and mortars
- REF I HG – 98.5% SiC, maximum 100 ppm magnetic iron, high density and ultra-purity for premium refractories in extreme environments including trays, special cast pieces, gas-cleaning systems, reactors, tube protection, and burner linings
Protecting Performance in the Field
When refractories fail, the cost is not only in replacement but also in lost production and damaged relationships. Thanks to its outstanding thermal conductivity, exceptional wear and oxidation resistance, and strong chemical durability, SIKA® REF helps prevent premature wear, thermal shock cracking, and chemical attack—keeping your products in service longer and protecting your reputation.
If you want to offer your customers longer service life, higher performance, and greater reliability, join the leading producers worldwide who already trust SIKA® REF.
